HISTORY

At the year 1820 The administrator of Palanga manor, under the concern of Antanas Boguslovskis, a new stone masonry mill was erected in place of the endless old wooden mill of Darbėnai manor. About a century from 1824. The Darbėnai mill belonged to count Tiškevičius, who rented it mainly to german millers. During the land reform, about 1925, the mill was bought by former tenant Vagneris, of whom later bought Romas Vainora, who owned the mill in year 1930. Overhauled the diesel engine not only to turn the mill to flour, but also to generate electricity to light the campus. At the beginning of the Soviet era, the mill was nationalized and became a collective farm. 1989 The mill was restored by the former owner's son, Romas Vainora. Later the mill went from hand to hand but was not used.  

The ruins of this mill and the foundations of two outbuildings, which once belonged to count Tiškevičius, testify to the passing of the 19th century. The beginning of a story that still contains valuable finds of the past. Today's society respects it's ancestors, and therefore encourages and expresses a desire to restore, vacuum, or otherwise preserve this historic building by presenting an easily accessible and innovative history to future generations, and the importance of this watermill.
